Xenophobia: NIDO.Qatar condemns killings in South Africa.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Qatar under the auspices of NIDO worldwide, have expressed deep shock and concern over the ongoing killings in the Republic of South Africa

NIDO-Qatar, has condemned in a strong term, the ugly trend of attacks on Africans especially Nigerians by fellow Africans, warning that these killings have to stop and with immediate effect.

The organization gave this warning during a visit to the Ambassador of South Africa Embassy, Doha, Qatar, His Excellency, Faizal Moosa, called for an

immediate cessation of attacks which, they said, has no place in democracy nor does it fit with the ideals of hospitality indigenous, to African societies.

“NIDO Qatar, hereby urge the Government of South Africa to sustain its resolve to maintain peace and order by bringing to justice persons involved in the formulation and implementation of these heinous acts.

“South Africa’s future is inextricably linked to the rest of the African continent. The more reason South Africa should show their commitment to adhere to the rule of law as a major tenet of democracy which the African Union unanimously adopted as the official system of Government for countries in the continent.

The organisation however recommend an acceleration of the integration agenda towards eliminating xenophobic incidence as it is presently happening in South Africa.

NIDO.Qatar also sought for absolute need for African people, on the continent and in the Diaspora, to stick together and aspire to a greater, self-reliant and progressive African continent.

This, according to the organisation would further cement relationship among African countries and help the continent to realise her pursuit of the African Union’s 2028 target for a fully integrated Africa.

“Using the words of Nelson Mandela- father of modern day South Africa – “By acting together, we can achieve success”, We hereby call on all South Africans to emulate the spirit of oneness displayed by all African Nations in no meagre proportion during South Africa’s apartheid regime. Let us substitute violence with dialogue because it would facilitate peaceful co-existence and better integration” the organization added.
