Ex-Kwara Commissioner losses dad

A prominent Islamic schorlar and Imam of Jagun Mosque, Okelele area, Ilorin, Kwara state capital, Alhaji Muktar Abdulsalam is dead.

Alhaji Muktar Abdulsalam, the father of former Commissioner for Education in Kwara State, Hajia Nimota Ibrahim died in the early hours of Saturday (August 17, 2019) at the age of 90, after a brief illness.

The Janaza (burial), according to Islamic rite, was led by Imam Abdulhameed Abdullahi, the Imam Imale of Ilorin and witnessed by scores of sympathisers at the family compound Jagun, Okelele, Ilorin.

Dr Al-Imam Abubakar Ali-Agan, an Islamic cleric and Proprietor, Annur Islamic Group of Schools, Ilorin, in a graveside sermon, admonished Muslims to always prepare for death with good deeds.

Ali-Agan, also an Associate Prof. in the Department of Religion, University of Ilorin, described death as an inevitable adventure, saying every human would give detailed account of his or her sojourn on earth.

He advised the gathering to always imbibe righteousness, tolerance, devotion to Allah’s commandments in order to gain the desired salvation and paradise.

Hajia Ibrahim, in her own tribute, described Alhaji Abdulsalam as a selfless, upright and straight forward father, who lived his entire life for the preaching and propagation of Islam.

Hajia Ibrahim was also a former Commissioner in-charge of Land and Housing, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and member of the Kwara State House of Assembly extolled the virtues of her late father, describing him as a man of many parts.

“My father was a straight forward, selfless and open minded person and that is exertly what he had inculcated in all of us his children.

“His death still remain a rude shock because prior to his sickness and eventual death today (Saturday) he was hail and hearty and even attended an Islamic outing.

“We give glory to almighty Allah that he left an indelible legacy and also lived a life worthy of emulation,” she said.

Mallam Isiaq Muktar, a lecurer in the Kwara State College of Education, Department of Arabic, also in his tribute, described deceased as a kind-hearted and loving father.

“He was a loving, kind-hearted and devoted father up to the time of his death, my prayers is that almighty Allah will forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal paradise.

“We will surely miss his fatherly role and advices,” he said.

Alhaji Abdulrazaq Aduagba, Proprietor, Rahamatul Adabiyyah Group of Schools, Ilorin, prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He admonished muslims to inculcate the habit of good deeds, saying death could happen at any time.
