Unilorin, Russian Versity partner on students marketability

National University of Technology (MISIS), Russia Federation in collaboration with Coin Communications Consults on Friday organised a seminar on scholarships and personal development for the students of the University of Ilorin.

The seminar, which held at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, was aimed at advancing the potentials of the students and increase their marketability.

Speaking on the core pillars of graduate documents, the Executive Director of Coin Consult and Brand Ambassador for MISIS to Ghana and Nigeria, Mr. Mustapha Muhammad Jamiu said the seminar could not have come at a better time than now when there are many opportunities for African students to enjoy scholarship in Russian versities.

Mr Jamiu said event was also organised to provide guidelines on how best to prepare documents for graduate and post graduate admissions across the world and help to identify the best programs for individuals base on educational or professional background.

He added that the symposium also provided window of opportunity for various links to top English Masters programmes and scholarship in Russian Federation as well as introduced programmes of NUST MISIS and their benefits to individuals and Africa as a nation.

The Brand Ambassador for MISIS to Ghana and Nigeria stated further that quality resume is a strong pillar of graduate admission documents that must be meticulously tailored to what is being applied for.

He identified poor resume as the killer of graduates applications, pointing out that the seminar was necessary to provide the interested Nigerian and Ghanaian students with ample opportunity of securing scholarships in Russian versities.

Mr. Muhammad Jamiu underscored the importance of effective resumes, motivation and reference letters as well as adequate preparation by applicants for scholarships abroad.

Speaking on reference letters, the MISIS Brand Ambassador advised the students to engage in volunteering exercise and maintain cordial relationship with their lecturers, particularly their project supervisors describing them as  important referees.
