The People Democratic Party (PDP) has hinted that the party may not participate in the thursday rerun governorship election in Osun state.

A chieftain of the PDP, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa disclosed this on Monday just as he asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare Senator Ademola Adeleke winner of the Saturday poll.

Senator Ohuabunwa (PDP Abia North) insisted that the INEC could still go ahead and declare Senator Adeleke winner of the Saturday election in order to restore public confidence on the national electoral body ahead of 2019.

The lawmaker in a one-page statement issued in Abuja todwy described the last minute decision of the Commission to declare the governorship election inconclusive as not only strange but also a rape on our democracy.

The lawmaker said the party will not accept anything less than its deserved victory because the party won the election clearly and unambiguously.

According to him, the only way to avert crisis and further loss of confidence in INEC is for the Commission to announce the senator winner.

“The wish of the people must be respected and there was no legal or technical reason for INEC to have declared the Saturday governorship poll inconclusive.

“The PDP was denied victory at the Osun poll despite other alleged manipulations by agents of the APC was a pointer that the day of APC was numbered. The people have rejected APC and the Osun people have demonstrated such in the Saturday’s election”, he stressed.
