The ambition of a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia, has received a boost with a group, Ilorin Emirate Youth Integrity Vanguard endorsing him as its preferred candidate for the party’s gubernatorial ticket.

The group said it would only mobilise the people of Ilorin Emirate for the PDP in the forthcoming general elections if it conceded the choice of its governorship flag-bearer in the state to Ajia.

The President of the group, Mallam Sheriffudeen Alaburo, stated this when he led his members on a courtesy visit to the PDP governorship hopeful in Ilorin, the state capital.

He said the governorship aspirant, who is also the founder of Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim Foundation, has demonstrated the capacity to administer the affairs of the state if given the opportunity through his foundation that had impacted in the lives of the less privileged.

Alaburo clarified that the group was not just agitating for Ajia’s candidacy but was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that he was prepared for the job of governance with his blueprint.

He appealed to the party to conduct a free, fair and credible primary election and give a chance to Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia to emerge as candidate of the party.

Responding, the governorship aspirant, who had since submitted his nomination form to the National Secretariat of the PDP ahead of the screening, warned the youth of Ilorin Emirate against divisive tendencies.

He singled out those he identified as “accidental politicians” as those fanning ember of discord among the citizens of the emirate and urged them to bewary of such people.

Ajia told the visiting group that he was running for governorship race with genuine intention, promising that he would bring about development and turn the state to where son of nobody can become somebody.
